Getting to Carriacou

From Grenada, the journey to Carriacou is a short twenty minute ride by air or two hours by sea. Whichever option you choose, you are sure to have an exciting trip filled with breathtaking views of our islands. And do not leave Grenada without a visit to Carriacou.

 

Travelling By Sea

For visitors already in Grenada, the Osprey Ferry operates round-trip service between Grenada and Carriacou on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The 90-minute journey on a power-catamaran travels along Grenada’s scenic west coast from St. George’s, passing the small islets between Grenada and Carriacou and arriving at the Tyrell Bay Port in Carriacou. 

Other options for sea travel include the MV Dolly C on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and the Tyrell Bay Express on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Travelling By Air

SVG Air operates flights between Grenada’s Maurice Bishop International Airport and Carriacou’s Lauriston Airport five days a week. The 20 minute flight makes it is easy for visitors and business travellers to spend at least one day exploring Carriacou.

  • A modern purpose built terminal located close to the St. George’s Harbour caters for several cruise lines.

Grenada, Carriacou, Petite Martinique and its dependencies are located in the eastern Caribbean, south of the Windward Islands and 100 miles north of Venezuela. Neighboring islands St. Vincent and the Grenadines lie to the north and Trinidad and Tobago lie to the South.
Average temperatures range from 75 degrees F to 85 degrees F (24 degrees C to 30 degrees C), with a cool breeze. The lowest temperatures occur between November and February. Although the climate is warm all year round, we do experience some seasonal changes depending on altitude. The dry season is between January and May and the rainy season is from June to December.

Around the island you will hear a fusion of parang, reggae, dancehall and pop from cars and buses, shop fronts and even through the windows of people’s homes, especially during festival seasons.
