DID YOU KNOW? 🤔
Grenada’s Quarantine Point wasn’t always a picnic spot or even called that!
Once known as Goat Point or Long Point, this secluded peninsula became a quarantine station in 1892, built to isolate patients with smallpox, yellow fever, and other diseases.
It later housed a leper settlement nearby, served as a rest house, and even became a World War I military camp for Windward Islands troops.
During the Grenada Revolution, it was used as a military base by the People’s Revolutionary Government, the camp was called Camp Boney, with its main building known as The Big House.
By the late 1980s, only the building foundations remained.
In 2002, the government leased the site to the Rotary Club for 33 years, transforming it into the Quarantine Station Recreational Park we know today; a peaceful spot with a powerful past. 🇬🇩✨

🇬🇩 Grenada at the WIPO Assemblies — One People, One Journey, One Future
From July 8-17, 2025, hundreds of delegates from WIPO’s 194 Member States gathered in Geneva, Switzerland for the WIPO Assemblies, a global conference focused on shaping the future of intellectual property (IP) and promoting economic, social, and cultural development worldwide.
At the heart of the Assemblies, the “Grenada Turns 50 – One People, One Journey, One Future” cultural event co-organized by WIPO and the Government of Grenada, proudly showcased Grenada’s vibrant culture on this international stage.
We are especially proud to announce the historic appointment of V’ghn as WIPO’s first-ever IP Youth Ambassador. 🎤
As an IP Youth Ambassador, V’ghn will raise awareness about the importance of Intellectual Property (IP) the protections that recognize and safeguard creators’ work in music, art, inventions, and more. Through his role, he will inspire and educate young creators to protect their rights and embrace creativity as a path to empowerment and opportunity.
Supported by CAIPO and the Honourable Claudette Joseph, this milestone shines a spotlight on Grenada’s leadership within the global creative community.
Grenada’s presence at the event was further enriched by the contributions of local stakeholders showcasing the island’s rich creativity and heritage.
From cultural performances to vital international conversations, Grenada continues moving forward; one people, one journey, one future.

🏀 From Court to Coastline 🌴
Former NBA player Dr. Larry Sanders II recently led a transformational youth basketball camp at the Grand Anse Basketball Court on July 10–11, 2025 🇬🇩
The impactful two-day event was hosted by US-based nonprofit Fifth Element Arts Inc., in collaboration with the Kellon Baptiste Foundation, a local organization committed to empowering Grenadian youth through sports and education.
Over the weekend, Pure Grenada had the pleasure of taking Larry on a cultural and culinary tour of the island, with stops at the House of Chocolate, River Antoine Estate, Taste of Heaven Ice Cream, Good Food Kitchen, Mt. Carmel and Grand Etang.
A meaningful mix of basketball, community, and Grenadian culture.
