While the name Hyde Park is reminiscent of the British colonial past, the unique town garden located at Woolwich Road, St. George’s is an explosion of tropical colour nurtured by a local family for six generations. Originally a small estate, Hyde Park is now a carefully curated garden of fruit trees, palm trees, orchids, heliconias, cycads, lilies, croton and cacti; some specimens being unusual and rarely seen outside botanical gardens.

Extending to one and a half acres, the garden overlooks the Port Louis Marina, the port and part of the town of St. Georges with a magnificent vista stretching to the South of the island as far as the Pointe Salines peninsula. The Roberts family (property owners) are sure to provide a very knowledgeable guided tour especially if you are a gardening fanatic. Tours can be booked by appointments only.
