The Sams Inn was opened for business in the early 1970’s and operated by its founder the late Mrs.Ellen Sam. Her daughter, son and son-in-law are continuing the operation of Sams Inn.

The Inn was the first of its kind to be built in the Grenville area, and was at that time only five minutes from the Pearls Airport (now closed). In addition to regular guests the Inn also provided accommodation for passengers who were unable to make the limited daily airline flights.

In 2000 the Sams Inn was the headquarters in Grenada, through rotary international, for the third world eye care society optometric eye care team. During hurricane Ivan the Inn housed several families for the duration of the storm and days and weeks after was the home to electrical utility workers from neighboring Islands who came to assist Grenada restore service.
