Washington, D.C. – July 21, 2025 – The Embassy of Grenada to the United States proudly celebrates Grenada’s outstanding achievement at the 2025 Embassy Chef Challenge, where the nation earned Third Place in the esteemed People’s Choice Award. Held at the historic Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C., on July 10, the event brought together more than 30 countries to celebrate culinary diplomacy. Representing Grenada, Dr. Michaele C. Samuel, culinary artist, psychotherapist, and lifestyle expert wowed over 800 attendees with her vibrant Calypso Mango Shrimp Salad and signature Grenadian Gold Rum Punch.

Hosted annually by Events DC, the Embassy Chef Challenge is a premier cultural and culinary experience, offering guests a chance to savor authentic flavors and traditions from diplomatic missions in Washington, D.C. The event featured immersive embassy booths, live cultural performances, and a showcase of the food and flavors of each country.

When asked about her approach to the competition, Dr. Samuel emphasized the power of flavor and accessibility. “Placing third out of so many countries was a major win for Grenada,” she said. “It’s a powerful reminder that Grenada is not only a feast for the eyes but a feast for the palate. This recognition affirms what we’ve always known. Our food isn’t just good, it’s worldclass.” She noted that her culinary strategy was to highlight bold, tropical flavors that were visually stunning and universally inviting. “The response was overwhelmingly positive, as evidenced by the award,” she added. “Moments like this open the door for deeper investment in our food culture, celebrating local ingredients in creative new ways and expanding agro-tourism in meaningful, sustainable directions.”

His Excellency Tarlie Francis, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Grenada to the United States, praised Dr. Samuel’s performance. “She brought the soul of Grenadian cuisine to a global stage, and the reception speaks volumes about the caliber of talent Grenada continues to cultivate. We are incredibly proud of the excellence and distinction with which she represented our nation.”

This achievement highlights Grenada’s rising profile as a destination where culinary excellence and cultural richness converge. For more information on Grenada or to plan your visit, please go to www.puregrenada.com.
